Digital X-Rays Moodus, CT

Overview

Digital x-rays or radiographs are performed as part of a dental examination to provide an interior picture of your mouth. Digital x-rays make it easier for our seasoned dentists to diagnose issues that aren't easily visible, and to understand more about your oral health by showing the interior of your teeth, jaw, and gums. There are many dental concerns that may be seen on x-rays including cavities, decay, abscesses, cysts, impactions, and bone loss. If these issues are identified in the early stages, you may have more treatment options that are less invasive. As part of your annual dental examination at East Haddam Dental Associates in Moodus, CT, digital imaging will help us diagnose and correct dental problems.

Best Candidates

Typically, digital imaging are included in an annual dental examination. Digital x-rays may be performed for prevention or if you are concerned about a specific problem. Even though digital x-rays emit significantly less radiation compared to traditional film x-rays, East Haddam Dental Associates tries to lessen each patient's exposure. Although digital x-rays are generally safe for all patients, female patients who are breastfeeding or pregnant should inform us at the start of their dental exam so special cautionary steps may be taken.

What to Expect

Generally performed at the start of your appointment, digital imaging takes around 5 – 10 minutes to do. Many patients will get a set of x-rays to show the needed sections. Once they are done, they will be uploaded to view by you and our dentists throughout your exam. We can show you any issues and talk about possible treatments.

I have been a patient of East Haddam Dental for very many years. I have at all times been treated courteously and professionally. Dr. Stofko and now Dr. Goldman have tended to my teeth with a maximum of skill and a minimum of pain. Dr. Pear has also pitched in in their absence when I had an emergency that could not wait. I have never had an issue with the front desk staff. When I have a problem with a tooth they are always sympathetic and do their best to get me an early appointment to get it fixed. As for wait time, my experience is that I'm usually seated within a few minutes of my appointment. On those rare occasions where I did have to wait it was only for 15 minutes or so. I always figured the Doctor was backed up because someone needed extra help and I was just happy not to be that person. Needless to say I am pleased with the quality of care I've received and intend to stay with East Haddam Dental for the foreseeable future.

I've had two cleanings here since 2023, and I've enjoyed each visit. The practice is located in a non-congested area, more rural than urban. My hygienist has worked incredibly well with my sensitive teeth and receding gums, and the cleanings have been near painless. I've found everyone there to be kind and companionable.

Dr Goldman and his staff were absolutely the best. They saw me within 24 hours of of inquiry. They also made a comprehensive treatment plan, and on the first appointment took all new X-rays then immediately started work on my teeth. Numerous other dentists said I had to get several teeth pulled and couldn't save them and Dr Goldman is saving every single one of those teeth. I couldn't be more thankful. I would recommend anyone who has dental problems to go see him. Even when I called inquiring Sherry the receptionist was extremely polite and informative. The hygienist I had as well extremely polite. I was comfortable during the whole visit. Overall I really don't like going to the dentist but they actually made it a painless experience. Trust me I had to travel a decent ways and I will again for years to come..
